Numerous debug messages came thru for Craig. We lost about 35 mins on the problem. Took an NA2 guider image (since the slitview field had 1 faint star) and we got a smallish (1/4 frame) 5 pointed object in the center. Also had stars in the field. Looked like a shutter problem to me (Craig thought maybe the shutter wasn't closing all the way). I set up the NA2 guider in manual mode to excercise the shutter and see if the object went away. See NA2 guider image 85 (15sec exp) for an example. NA2 guider was usable other than the brightening in the middle. The "mystery" object went away after about 100 frames (slowly faded) I noticed that all 4 load cells (ABC&T) were not really happy at Alt 50 deg tonight. Probably nothing more that we have been seeing over the past couple weeks but they were pretty unhappy. I noticed "unhappiness" went away at high alt and came back a lower alt. 01:07 Sliitviewer failed (well around there) while taking exposures (manual mode but not guiding) (froze). They were issuing offsets. FYI, they were doing non-sidereal rate tracking for asteroids (which is why the field stars move in the frames). 02:09 DISslit guider locked up again (we were running in manual mode, and the observer was just inputting offsets manually) (froze) 05:38 DISslit Guider failed again (froze). 05:42 DISslit guider failed again (on ctrl click offset) (froze) 05:46 DISslit guider failed again (froze) 05:50 DISslit guider failed again (froze) ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PU05 D I/S 18:02 18:36 DISslit camera hung Bad Slitmask file (510x510 instead of 512x512) due to work done earlier on SW. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:40 DISslit -119(-97) 1 52 3.9 6.4 4.9 5.5 4.5 -- 1.2 21:05 DISslit -92(-120) -56 43 4.2 4.1 3.5 3.8 4.2 -- 1.7 21:07 NA2gdr -7424(21575) -57 42 4.2 4.1 3.5 3.7 4.2 R 1.2 00:03 DISslit -95(-210) 139 60 2.8 2.5 2.0 2.1 2.3 -- 1.5 02:44 DISslit -50(-200) -106 57 1.3 1.2 0.7 1.0 1.3 -- 1.6 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:01 42 13 11 230 (SW) 325 clouds none 17:01 39 13 17 224 (SW) 478 cirrus none 18:01 39 12 14 241 (WSW) 501 cirrus none 19:01 39 11 15 234 (SW) 620 cirrus none 20:01 40 10 20 214 (SW) 701 cirrus none 21:01 39 10 22 247 (WSW) 1154 cirrus none 22:01 38 10 16 236 (SW) 1073 clear none 23:01 37 6 19 256 (WSW) 721 clear none 00:01 37 7 19 257 (WSW) 590 clear none 01:01 36 11 20 258 (WSW) 504 clear none 02:01 34 18 21 251 (WSW) 634 clear none 03:01 35 19 20 236 (SW) 520 clear none 04:01 34 20 18 237 (WSW) 533 clear none 05:01 34 20 12 254 (WSW) 561 clear none 06:01 33 19 16 245 (WSW) 565 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
