A few thin clouds now and again, but other than that no problems. Seeing poor to moderate tonight. 2nd half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half had good seeing, but thin clouds moved in around 4 am. The DIS slitviewer shutter gave a little bit of trouble during test images before observing started, but had only one failure once we got going. Could be partly warmer weather, partly long exposures by the observer, but we hope it's also partly the steps taken by daystaff to keep the shutter warm. Despite a struggle with the clouds, APOLLO got returns from three reflectors in the morning. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:05 SPIcam 0(36) 292 30 1.0 1.8 1.2 0.9 1.2 r 1.2 20:30 SPIcam -100(-99) 302 39 1.7 1.1 0.5 0.5 1.4 r 1.5 00:18 DISslit -100(-288) 196 69 1.4 0.86 0.21 0.38 1.3 - 0.93 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:01 34 3 5 11 (N) 283 mstly clr none 17:01 34 -19 14 350 (N) 81 mstly clr none 18:01 35 -28 16 354 (N) 105 clear none 19:01 35 -16 17 6 (N) 323 clear none 20:01 35 -4 11 354 (N) 268 mstly clr none 21:01 35 -4 12 4 (N) 422 mstly clr none 22:01 34 0 2 10 (N) 267 mstly clr none 23:01 34 2 12 333 (NNW) 255 clear none 00:01 34 0 13 318 (NW) 363 clear none 01:01 34 1 5 354 (N) 697 clear none 02:01 34 2 9 327 (NNW) 731 clear none 03:01 35 12 15 341 (NNW) 367 mstly clr none 04:01 35 11 15 6 (N) 217 ptly cldy none 05:01 33 11 21 11 (N) 410 ptly cldy none 06:01 32 13 24 29 (NNE) 337 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
