Overcast skies, fast moving clouds. As soon as the humidity dropped the winds camerushing in. Opened at 18:50 in 32mph gusts. High winds made focusing very difficult... Once front moved through and the winds calmed down, but the image quality didn't seem to improve much. Clouds moved in around 21:00 and we lost guiding and weren't getting any data. Closed at 21:15, overcast. Opened again at 22:15 when the sky cleared again and the winds came howling through. High winds but mostly clear skies rest of first half. 2nd half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half likewise had moderate to poor seeing and occasional fast-moving clouds. After 01:30 the clouds were coming through more often, and then the wind and humidity went up and I had to close. Wind dropped, humidity continued to rise, clouds got worse, and we got a teensy bit of snow around 05:30. The clouds cleared off from the western part of the sky, but humidity remained high, so we never reopened. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:40 SPIcam -50(-84) -64 35 -0.4 -0.4 -0.9 -0.7 -0.3 g 1.4 22:30 SPIcam -150(-259) -22 56 -1.9 -1.4 -1.9 -1.8 -1.8 g 1.3 00:25 SPIcam -100(-284) -155 65 -3.4 -3.27 -3.51 -3.56 -3.4 r 1.3 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:01 33 26 18 269 (W) 436 cloudy none 17:01 32 27 22 261 (W) 469 mstly cldy none 18:01 32 26 18 269 (W) 475 mstly cldy none 19:01 31 21 21 268 (W) 457 mstly clr none 20:01 31 20 20 266 (W) 464 mstly clr none 21:01 31 21 22 264 (W) 555 mstly cldy none 22:01 30 19 30 273 (W) 1702 ptly cldy none 23:01 28 19 21 273 (W) 787 mstly clr none 00:01 26 20 20 273 (W) 647 ptly cldy none 01:01 25 18 25 280 (W) 795 ptly cldy none 02:01 25 21 21 269 (W) 707 mstly cldy humid 03:01 24 22 21 269 (W) 687 mstly cldy humid 04:01 23 22 27 270 (W) 792 cloudy humid 05:01 22 22 21 279 (W) 12659 ptly cldy fog 06:01 22 21 19 291 (WNW) 768 mstly clr humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
