Again Apollo got returns through high winds and poor seeing. High gust over the limit a few times around 19:30. Continued high winds all first half, dying down some after 21:00 when warm dry air blew in. Variable seeing. 2nd half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half continued clear with bad to awful seeing. The DIS slitviewer shutter refused to open on nearly 50% of exposures when we started, but once it warmed up it was fine. Everything else worked well. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 18:35 Echelle -205(-1526) 177 62 -7.9 -7.9 -8.5 -9.5 -7.8 -- 1.4 21:55 Echelle -9(-1196) 55 77 -1.5 -4.7 -5.9 -4.7 -2.3 ND1 1.7 23:00 Echelle -28(-1120) 166 64 -1.3 -2.6 -4.2 -3.9 -1.1 -- 1.5 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:01 17 6 7 355 (N) 384 clear none 17:01 17 -5 27 9 (N) 445 clear none 18:01 18 -11 24 13 (NNE) 250 clear none 19:01 18 -7 14 10 (N) 302 clear none 20:01 21 -11 20 27 (NNE) 333 clear none 21:01 20 -6 22 22 (NNE) 217 clear none 22:01 30 -24 11 8 (N) 292 clear none 23:01 31 2 21 12 (NNE) 123 clear none 00:01 33 0 15 18 (NNE) 91 clear none 01:01 32 0 20 25 (NNE) 128 clear none 02:01 33 1 15 15 (NNE) 98 clear none 03:01 31 5 15 14 (NNE) 165 clear none 04:01 30 6 19 21 (NNE) 190 clear none 05:01 30 4 20 12 (NNE) 97 clear none 06:01 31 0 24 12 (NNE) 85 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
