We opened with clear skies and humidity going down. Apollo reported very bad seeing. Humidity came up again around 20:30, but dissipated soon. Highly variable seeing all night. After Apollo, we started with Echelle then switched to NIC-FPS around 23:00. Then back to Echelle. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half went smoothly, with varying high clouds. Fortunately the observers' targets were bright. Seeing appeared to be subarcsecond some of the time, but it was hard to be sure since the stars were usually under the slit. We had one bug discovery where the echelle trail script would hang up the ecam, and another weirdness with some ecam images having varying sizes. No time lost in either case. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 20:30 Echelle -100(-937) 147 35 5.8 6.1 5.6 5.8 5.5 -- 1.6 23:20 NA2guider -125(409) 233 60 6.9 6.0 5.6 5.9 6.0 K 1.2 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:01 46 42 12 215 (SW) 1369 mstly clr none 17:01 45 42 7 191 (S) 1315 mstly clr none 18:01 44 34 9 250 (WSW) 806 mstly clr none 19:01 44 25 10 212 (SSW) 471 ptly cldy none 20:01 43 34 9 186 (S) 964 mstly clr none 21:01 45 28 8 237 (WSW) 526 ptly cldy none 22:01 46 11 6 265 (W) 258 mstly cldy none 23:01 43 24 3 194 (SSW) 644 mstly cldy none 00:01 42 28 8 209 (SSW) 1077 ptly cldy none 01:01 43 29 9 232 (SW) 1226 mstly clr none 02:01 42 31 9 237 (WSW) 1172 mstly clr none 03:01 42 31 8 242 (WSW) 1219 ptly cldy none 04:01 43 26 10 264 (W) 1006 ptly cldy none 05:01 43 22 17 274 (W) 730 mstly clr none 06:01 44 18 18 286 (WNW) 541 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
