Velocity scales both looked good compared to their current values and I made no changes. Bill's scripts made short order for the work involved. We got about 1/4-1/2 inch of grapply white stuff. I turned the roof heaters on until about 1AM when I went up to check the roof. Unfortunately there was still a buildup of snow/ice pellets on the roof. With the primary above freezing I felt it prudent to stay closed (even if the humidity dropped below closure limits, which it hadn't yet at 1AM). If it is clear tommorow during the day, the sunlight should take care of the remaining snow/ice. I noticed on the Dataq that the primary (A,B,C load cells) had some noise in them even while the telescope was off. Might not be a bad idea to relax the primary during the daytime. I checked the roof at 03:40 and we still had too much snow (and I also saw some drifts) so I called the night over. I parked the telescope due S with the roof heaters on. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:01 33 33 24 267 (W) 20418 cldy everything 17:01 31 31 32 233 (SW) 8599 cldy everything 18:01 31 30 19 260 (W) 295 cldy snow 19:01 31 31 18 256 (WSW) 345 cldy fog 20:01 31 31 29 267 (W) 353 cldy none 21:01 30 29 26 249 (WSW) 487 cldy none 22:01 30 28 25 251 (WSW) 465 pt. cldy none 23:01 30 29 27 253 (WSW) 522 mst. clr none 00:01 28 27 22 269 (W) 650 clear none 01:01 28 25 27 265 (W) 814 clear none 02:01 27 25 25 262 (W) 885 clear none 03:01 27 24 25 252 (WSW) 887 clear none 04:01 28 22 20 251 (WSW) 647 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
