Thin clouds and high winds all 1st half. Seeing was moderate to poor. Closed at 1:18am due to complete overcast, no stars visible on instrument or guide camera. Radar returns from a system moving in from the west were also getting too close for comfort. Raining at 2:00am. Opened again at 4:30 when the sky had cleared up somewhat. But given the patchiness of clear sky and the bright moon, useful data was not really possible. Observer gave up at 5:30. NIC-FPS was left mounted at NA2 as per J.Holtzman’s request, with NM03 given permissions for day use of both NIC-FPS and Echelle. SPIcam temp was 180.4 at 05:45. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ------------------------------------------------------------------ 20:05 Echelle 100( ) –16 55 10.8 11.0 10.5 10.9 10.6 ND1 0.9 04:42 Echelle 225(473) –35 52 9.2 9.2 8.6 9.2 9.0 J 1.4 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 55 38 21 148 (SSE) 476 ptly cldy none 17:00 54 39 22 161 (SSE) 458 ptly cldy none 18:00 53 37 23 141 (SE) 478 ptly cldy none 19:00 51 36 26 143 (SE) 449 ptly cldy none 20:00 51 38 19 154 (SSE) 519 mstly clr none 21:00 51 39 25 138 (SE) 555 ptly cldy none 22:00 50 40 25 141 (SE) 535 ptly cldy none 23:00 50 39 19 129 (SE) 670 ptly cldy none 00:00 49 38 19 149 (SSE) 567 ptly cldy none 01:00 50 37 18 216 (SW) 517 mstly clr none 02:00 50 38 16 194 (SSW) 560 mstly clr lt rain 03:00 49 36 19 169 (S) 499 mstly clr humid 04:00 48 40 18 181 (S) 680 mstly clr none 05:00 49 39 17 186 (S) 631 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
