Moderate to high winds first half. Moderate winds the remainder of the night. The cloud camera (spare) appears to be having the same trouble as the camera we just sent in for repairs. Looks like the chopper wheel is not spinning since all the coadded images and raw images appear flat. Howard Brewington attempted to adjust the focus and gains on the camera but no change was seen in the images. The echelle slitviewer icc crashed at 05:00 and required a power cycle to bring it back alive. When we started taking calibrations with the echelle I quickly noticed that the ThAr lamp was not turning on (TUI said it was on but images appeared to be biases). I immediately suspected the cause of the problem. The same time last year when the cleaners were on site, various things inadvertantly got unplugged or turned off or dials get 'adjusted', it appears that the ThAr power supply is such a device. Last year I found the current dial had been adjusted. Tonight I found the power supply turned off as well as the current dial misadjusted. After a few trips up and down the stairs to verify the lamp was set properly and turning on and off with TUI commands we were back in buisness. I updated TUI versions and other software on several control room computers while we were closed due to dewpoint depression. I also worked on updating the fastcam operations documentation. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DD01 E I/H 05:00 05:06 Slitty crashed, needed power cycle DD01 E I/H 06:00 06:20 Found ThAr p/s off and misadjusted ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ------------------------------------------------------------------ 19:51 cormass 25(81) 203 53 10.5 11.3 - 2.0 19:55 NA2gdr -3689(25310) 204 53 10.4 11.2 V 1.94 20:20 cormass 75(77) 213 50 10.2 10.8 - 2.5 02:40 cormass 125(0) 109 56 9.5 9.5 - 2.0 04:25 Echelle 150(-956) 154 79 8.9 8.8 nd2 2.1 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 58 38 14 71 (ENE) 681 mstly clr none 17:00 57 39 13 87 (E) 650 mstly clr none 18:00 56 40 20 86 (E) 672 ptly cldy none 19:00 52 42 11 84 (E) 961 ptly cldy none 20:00 51 42 22 79 (E) 1153 ptly cldy none 21:00 51 44 21 84 (E) 1083 ptly cldy none 22:00 50 46 17 85 (E) 1239 ptly cldy humid 23:00 50 47 16 85 (E) 1005 ptly cldy humid 00:00 49 47 19 72 (ENE) 944 ptly cldy humid 01:00 49 46 20 86 (E) 842 ptly cldy humid 02:00 49 44 21 79 (E) 771 ptly cldy humid 03:00 49 40 14 87 (E) 576 ptly cldy none 04:00 49 38 17 82 (E) 615 mstly clr none 05:00 48 37 19 89 (E) 544 ptly cldy none 06:00 46 42 19 86 (E) 533 mstly clr humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
