During evening checkout I was having trouble with the truss lamps gui. The observer's truss lamps gui was blank. I would get intermittent responses after a tlamps status, but at some point this would not even work. I tried controlling the lamps via the web browser to the lampswitch, but nothing improved via TUI. We went on to the first field, focused and got a few integrations while I was working on the truss lamps. I called Fritz and after looking at a few things he had to reboot the hub. When everything came back nothing was different for the truss lamps control via TUI. So, ultimately I had to control the lamps via hub commands with the observers telling me when they wanted lamps on or off. We were not able to get cals until after 8pm. I had not done created a new slit mask at the beginning of the night (since I had no control over the truss lamps) and the mask on the guider was again too high. Once we got the truss lamps working again I created a new mask that lined up properly. Good news is we had pretty good seeing and the 1st half observers reported getting good data. So that's nice. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: J.Dembicky Variable seeing between about 1.3 and 1.8 for the 2nd half. The DISslit viewer hung a couple of times near the end of the night and needed a little kick in the hub. No time lost. Lamps worked fine thru the MC, but nothing (no buttons) in TUI at all. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UC01 O T/S 19:20 20:10 Truss lamps control down ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:20 DISslit -75(23) 34 53 6.9 8.4 7.3 7.4 7.1 -- 1.1 20:48 DISslit -50(24) -4 58 7.6 7.2 6.4 7.0 7.1 -- 1.0 21:54 DISslit -25(30) -33 54 6.0 6.6 6.1 6.3 6.0 -- 1.0 01:23 DISslit -50(26) -57 41 6.8 6.4 5.9 6.4 6.7 none 1.3 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:01 47 19 8 283 (WNW) 96 clear none 17:01 47 16 9 299 (WNW) 109 clear none 18:01 46 20 10 322 (NW) 141 clear none 19:01 45 15 9 288 (WNW) 120 clear none 20:01 45 17 9 267 (W) 155 clear none 21:01 45 16 8 266 (W) 170 clear none 22:01 43 23 7 271 (W) 271 clear none 23:01 45 17 10 284 (WNW) 201 clear none 00:01 44 20 5 268 (W) 194 clear none 01:01 45 21 16 307 (NW) 258 clear none 02:01 44 24 15 321 (NW) 217 clear none 03:01 43 25 18 335 (NNW) 280 clear none 04:01 43 22 14 347 (NNW) 210 clear none 05:01 43 21 15 338 (NNW) 229 clear none 06:01 43 20 14 323 (NW) 262 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
