While switching to DIS from the Echelle I sent an inadvertant command thru the tcc to change instruments, while the telescope was in mid-slew, about 5 seconds later the altitude drive stopped and I got a Servo amp 2 power loss error. I tried restarting systems and eventually got Mark/Dave on the phone to diagnose the hardware (ie. restarting the amp/controller and checking power/fuses). We found a blown fuse hidden under the servo amp and when I replaced it and re-powered the servo I could immediatelly smell smoke, at which I immediatelly unplugged the servo amp to prevent any further damage. Mark called the telescope down for the remainder of the night at this point. Dave and Mark will be in this morning to further diagnose/fix the problem. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UC08 O T/H 00:10 06:09 Alt servo amp died. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:41 DISslit 225(1046) 337 71 7.1/8.1 11 15 none 1.1 18:42 Echelle 62(72) -55 63 7.2/7.4 11 15 ND3 0.94 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 46 4 1 93 (E) 206 Clear none 17:01 46 5 11 24 (NNE) 98 Clear none 18:01 45 4 14 14 (NNE) 87 Clear none 19:01 46 5 15 13 (NNE) 35 Clear none 20:01 46 4 12 7 (N) 41 Clear none 21:01 46 3 12 25 (NNE) 35 Clear none 22:01 47 3 14 30 (NNE) 35 Clear none 23:01 46 3 12 34 (NE) 58 Clear none 00:01 44 4 11 31 (NNE) 56 Clear none 01:01 45 4 10 359 (N) 68 Clear none 02:01 48 5 1 20 (NNE) 42 Clear none 03:01 46 4 5 3 (N) 31 Clear none 04:01 46 3 3 254 (WSW) 33 Clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
