Since it broke apart while still outside of the instrument no shards when in, but it could have just as easily broke off when the wand was inserted and that might have causes fill problems. Might want to consider this before we put another back on the wand. While filling the Echelle nurse tank tonight the Echelle decided it also wanted to fill the instrument. I stopped my fill and let it fill but the tank pressure was only about 3PSI so the fill took a very long time for obvious reasons. I filled the nurse tank (and re-pressurized it) after the Echelle fill stopped. Since I wasn't 100% positive both the shield and CCD filled (I think the shield did a full fill as I heard a change in airflow and the fill then stopped, but I couldn't confirm this on the CCD side and I never saw any LN2 from the exhaust tubes, although sometimes you dont'). To be on the safe side I decide to do a manual fill on both sides (after de-icing about 3 inches of ice on the CCD manual fill valve). Somebody should finish my de-icing job of the CCD side of the tank during the daytime and then re-bag it. I couldn't seem to do a gfocus tonight, the camera would take an image but the gfocus script didn't get a response and timed out after about a minute. I manually focused the guider. Around 19:46 the NA2 guider hung. (according to the last guider image taken). A power cycle reboot was necessary to revive it. No problems afterwards. Seeing was pretty medeocre all night tonight, adjust during the night on the fly as necessary. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:21 DISBlue 75(595) 263 66 0.9/0.8 298 18 none 2.0 18:32 NA2gdr -6000(23000) 263 64 0.9/0.7 292 18 R 1.5 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 34 12 17 301 (WNW) 309 Cirrus none 17:01 35 13 8 313 (NW) 328 Cirrus none 18:01 33 12 10 280 (W) 307 Cirrus none 19:01 34 12 15 300 (WNW) 400 Clear none 20:01 33 13 12 297 (WNW) 434 Clear none 21:01 33 12 10 359 (N) 373 Clear none 22:01 33 12 16 18 (NNE) 282 Clear none 23:01 32 11 20 19 (NNE) 263 Clear none 00:01 30 12 21 333 (NNW) 280 Clear none 01:01 30 13 13 15 (NNE) 242 Clear none 02:01 30 13 19 19 (NNE) 240 Clear none 03:01 30 14 20 7 (N) 184 Clear none 04:01 30 14 12 14 (NNE) 179 Clear none 05:01 30 14 25 18 (NNE) 189 Clear none 06:01 30 15 30 14 (NNE) 234 Clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
