The axes "DTimes" would not lock correctly to less then 0.4 seconds specified by the MaxDTime keyword in the axelim.dat file. I tried a few things I recalled from the last time I had seen this a few years ago but quickly came up against a brick wall. I resorted to calling C.Loomis who helped me through the problem as best he could so we could get on the sky. About 15 minutes of twilight was lost. At 21:57 (4:57UTC), two of the axes halted unexpectantly due to a "read timed out on port LTA4: failed to move one or more axes" with AxisNoTrack="FTF"; "axe_i_SchMove"; Text="tracking failed; axes halted" I issued an axis init and we were quickly back on the target. No downtime however, with the earlier problems with the axes controllers I thought it best to mention it and a problem report was filed. No other problems the rest of the night other then several big focus changes due to variable air temps. Cloud cover was thin to moderate and seeing was moderate to gastly most of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW05 D T/S 18:10 18:25 axes DTime would not lock UW05 D T/S --:-- --:-- Axes halted unexpectantly ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:14 dis-slit -200(346) 196 78 -1.6/1.7 360 4 - 1.04 00:13 dis-slit 200(705) 222 52 2.0/-0.6 130 1 - 1.23 05:12 dis-slit 25(614) 98 46 1.8/0.9 86 7 - 1.25 05:38 Echelle 44(-257) 142 75 1.2/0.8 81 11 nd2 0.79 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 35 10 0 243 (WSW) 1376 mstly cldy cirrus 17:01 32 11 0 344 (NNW) 1442 mstly cldy cirrus 18:01 30 12 6 354 (N) 1776 mstly cldy cirrus 19:01 32 9 1 6 (N) 1356 mstly cldy cirrus 20:01 30 11 5 355 (N) 1564 mstly cldy cirrus 21:01 30 10 5 358 (N) 1391 mstly cldy cirrus 22:01 32 6 3 0 (N) 1045 mstly cldy cirrus 23:01 33 6 5 22 (NNE) 1079 mstly cldy cirrus 00:01 35 -3 0 128 (SE) 890 mstly cldy cirrus 01:01 34 -7 0 194 (SSW) 687 mstly cldy cirrus 02:01 36 -13 1 0 (N) 567 mstly cldy cirrus 03:01 36 -15 0 199 (SSW) 624 mstly cldy cirrus 04:01 35 -16 5 86 (E) 646 mstly cldy cirrus 05:01 36 -15 5 91 (E) 780 mstly cldy cirrus 06:01 33 -13 8 85 (E) 671 mstly cldy cirrus Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
