McMillan Threatening weather nearby kept us closed for the first few hours of the night. Conditions improved just as the moon was getting high enough to be useful to APOLLO. Unfortunately, although skies were mostly clear, the seeing was quite bad; the greatly reduced any return signal from the moon, so once again there was no unambiguous detection. More rough spots were smoothed out, though, and the time was generally useful. The NIC-FPS observations during second half were more frustrating, as readout was only working on one channel; tomorrow during the day, there will be a search for a loose lead. For tonight, there were more measurements of the newly-adjusted slit position, but minor difficulties continued there as well. The TUI-based guiding software has apparently been messed up by a change made to fix another problem noted last night. I was able to run with the old TCC-based guiding algorithm, instead. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 59 45 18 68 (ENE) cloudy rain 17:01 62 41 17 66 (ENE) cloudy lt rain 18:01 62 41 14 76 (ENE) cloudy none 19:01 61 41 18 65 (ENE) mstly cldy none 20:01 61 41 14 78 (ENE) mstly cldy none 21:01 60 42 18 77 (ENE) mstly cldy none 22:01 61 44 13 85 (E) ptly cldy none 23:01 59 48 21 75 (ENE) mstly clr none 00:01 59 49 13 74 (ENE) clear none 01:01 58 48 22 72 (ENE) mstly clr none 02:01 58 45 7 66 (ENE) cirrus none 03:01 59 44 14 81 (E) cirrus none 04:01 57 44 7 86 (E) mstly clr none 05:01 58 40 14 84 (E) mstly clr none 06:01 58 40 18 83 (E) clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
