Remained open for the rest of the night under choppy skies, it was not clear for more than an hour at a time. At 00:15 I noticed that the rotator had experienced an over current condition and I had the observer pause their exposure while I reinitialized the axis I had been talking to Don York at the time and missed when the event occured. Luckily the telescope was in a part of the sky where rotation did not change very quickly and no science time was really lost. At 03:45 it again stopped tracking with over current. Both times rotation was +128 degrees. I watched the rotator over current again at 04:57 (Rot=+128), and again at 05:44 (Rot=-130). Since the day staff changed the condition of PR 35m-telescope/234 from open to analyzed yesterday no new PR was created. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- PU01 D T/H --:-- --:-- Rotation axis over current UW09 D T/H --:-- --:-- Rotation axis over current UW09 D T/H --:-- --:-- Rotation axis over current UW09 D T/H --:-- --:-- Rotation axis over current ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:25 dis-slit 175(1409) 189 77 15.4/17.8 142 10 - 1.19 22:29 NA2gdr 0(23000) 194 77 15.5/17.7 160 10 R 1.14 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 64 49 6 193 (SSW) 538 cloudy none 17:01 67 50 7 236 (SW) 543 cloudy none 18:01 63 50 5 165 (SSE) 574 cloudy none 19:01 62 47 10 138 (SE) 534 cloudy none 20:01 62 47 9 184 (S) 503 cloudy none 21:01 61 47 1 222 (SW) 502 cloudy none 22:01 60 47 9 173 (S) 440 prtly cldy none 23:01 60 48 14 179 (S) 679 prtly cldy none 00:01 58 50 14 164 (SSE) 1148 clear none 01:01 57 51 14 137 (SE) 1316 prtly cldy none 02:01 58 49 0 202 (SSW) 1129 prtly cldy none 03:01 57 50 0 90 (E) 1101 mstly clr none 04:01 60 49 6 338 (NNW) 587 prtly cldy none 05:01 59 49 8 332 (NNW) 387 mstly cldy none 06:01 60 49 5 300 (WNW) 410 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
