Once we got going, seeing started out good, rose to about 2 arcsec at the middle of the night, then improved again in the morning. Near the program change time, humidity rose up near the limit, but didn't quite cross over. After 02:30, clouds finally cleared off and humidity dropped somewhat. We did much exciting experimentation with guiding, trailing, and drifting functions in TUI for both echelle and DIS, most of which was very successful. There was some loss of time when the remote observer's TUI froze up and needed to be killed, prossibly due to memory problems (but we didn't confirm that). We also found a pernicious little bug in TUI control of the DIS slitviewer -- all exposures are approximately 5s long, regardless of requested exposure times. This will clearly merit some attention. It does not appear to be a problem with the shutter. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UC04 D T/S 03:57 04:20 TUI crash (memory leak?) ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:41 Echelle -75(397) 306 52 14.9/17.3 109 17 ND2 1.01 03:43 DISslit 0(1072) -20 61 13.6/13.4 107 9 - 0.95 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 65 47 0 345 (NNW) 593 cloudy none 17:01 65 48 4 89 (E) 556 cloudy none 18:01 63 49 15 114 (ESE) 632 cloudy none 19:01 62 47 9 104 (ESE) 559 cloudy none 20:01 61 48 13 124 (SE) 571 cloudy none 21:01 60 47 12 92 (E) 616 mstly cldy none 22:01 58 50 14 89 (E) 663 mstly cldy none 23:01 57 50 13 81 (E) 663 mstly cldy none 00:01 56 49 14 89 (E) 677 mstly cldy none 01:01 56 50 19 109 (ESE) 720 ptly cldy none 02:01 55 49 15 110 (ESE) 712 ptly cldy none 03:01 56 48 13 122 (ESE) 647 ptly cldy none 04:01 57 47 6 100 (E) 588 mstly clr none 05:01 57 47 6 93 (E) 597 mstly clr none 06:01 57 47 2 90 (E) 572 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
