When I initially released the stop buttons the telescope started moving (unexpectedly). A quick axis stop and crash button, too late the building already collided with the telescope stop switch. I reset those, did a couple axis stops to make sure there was nothing in the queue and released the buttons again. This time the telescope would not slew at all. It tripped the enclosure controller box again. I reset it and got Jon D. to help investigate. Basically we found that one of the three phases of power to site (Mains) was low and the enclosure controller was very unhappy about it. Eventually the phase voltage came back up (still low) on it's own and was sufficient to run the telescope. Jon and Ben were monitoring the voltage and did see it fluctuate (and we were at the edge of where the telescope is happy) so at some point in the night it is possible that it may drop again. Ben showed Jon how to start the generator and at that point we will transfer power for the night over to it. But for the time being we are running on the mains. We switched over to generator power, as the voltage was dropping on one of the phases again, at 22:30. The procedure took about 20 mins. I discovered around midnight that one of the mirror covers did not fully open (PR submitted). I had to manually go up to the dome to open it. Seeing improved in the later part of the 2nd half tonight. The humidity was kind of on a roller coaster ride tonight, but never hit closure limits. Outside temps also were riding the roller coaster too. We ran on generator power for the remainder of the night after we switched over. The power company called around 04:00 to ask if our power was restored. I figured the day staff would check and decide to put us back of the mains in the morning. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:45 DISslit -10(1211) 62 67 16.7/17.2 112 21 none 1.5 21:52 NA2gdr -725(22274) 59 68 17.0/17.2 112 18 R 1.2 01:14 SPIcam 0(1310) -133 57 14.6/15.1 120 19 J 1.4 01:21 NA2gdr 247(29247) -132 56 14.3/15.0 118 12 R 1.3 03:20 SPIcam 150(1414) 2 77 15.9/15.0 216 8 J 1.1 03:26 NA2gdr 1129(30129) -5 77 16.0/15.2 185 10 R 1.1 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 18:01 65 48 8 81 (E) 492 Mst.
