We missed some of our regular cooling-time, but opened well in time for the scheduled start of observing. First half began with occasionally cloudy skies and surprisingly reasonable seeing. A storm to the northeast was approaching all evening, dissipating as it got closer. By the end of first half, the moisture and high winds reached us even though the rain didn't, and we had to close. When the wind and humidity had stayed down for a bit, I re-opened. The sky was mostly clear but the seeing was poor and variable -- anywhere from 1.5 to worse than 3 arcseconds. It was very hard to find a good focus under such conditions, but we got some useful data. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:45 NICFPS -300(1831) 26 32 15.8/18.9 80 14 2.12 0.98 20:48 NA2gdr 3000(40000) 26 33 15.8/18.8 80 18 R 1.27 03:24 DISslit -300(1063) 167 64 13.3/13.3 63 8 - 2.0 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 72 43 0 37 (NE) 730 cloudy sprinkles 17:01 68 40 13 78 (ENE) 593 cloudy sprinkles 18:01 70 44 14 73 (ENE) 658 mstly cldy none 19:01 65 46 10 95 (E) 890 mstly cldy none 20:01 62 46 13 76 (ENE) 943 ptly cldy none 21:01 60 47 15 86 (E) 898 ptly cldy none 22:01 59 47 19 77 (ENE) 905 ptly cldy none 23:01 58 47 19 69 (ENE) 864 ptly cldy none 00:01 57 48 18 68 (ENE) 861 mstly clr none 01:01 54 49 24 71 (ENE) 760 mstly clr humid 03:01 56 46 12 75 (ENE) 679 mstly clr none 04:01 58 41 16 48 (NE) 470 mstly clr none 05:01 55 40 1 42 (NE) 501 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
