Seeing was excellent to good for the entire night. We lost 2 very long exposures when the telescope caused image jumps. The reason could not be determined either during occurance since nothing obvious appeared on the dataq and I was running a test version of TUI which made keeping a running track of the magnitude of guider offsets difficult. The temperatures did not appear to be changing and all of the other images showed nice round/in focus stars. The only explaination I can come up with, outside moth guts all over the drive surfaces, would be that due to the long integration times it is very possible that lack of incremental focus adjustments (we sat on the same target all night basically) was the cause of the two image jumps. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NM05 S T/H 01:09 01:37 Image Jump NM05 S T/H 03:54 04:20 Image Jump ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:27 SPIcam -25(1639) 92 52 14.6/15.8 222 15 r 1.12 00:59 SPIcam 100(1640) 229 77 14.6/14.5 266 9 r 0.66 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 65 15 17 238 (WSW) 695 clear none 17:01 69 17 18 271 (W) 547 clear none 18:01 68 17 21 226 (SW) 563 clear none 19:01 64 12 15 277 (W) 563 clear none 20:01 61 15 19 224 (SW) 565 clear none 21:01 58 16 14 217 (SW) 631 clear none 22:01 58 17 16 232 (SW) 723 clear none 23:01 58 18 10 261 (W) 870 clear none 00:01 57 15 11 268 (W) 637 clear none 01:01 58 13 12 268 (W) 599 clear none 02:01 58 15 9 271 (W) 615 cloudy cirrus 03:01 57 15 12 275 (W) 631 cloudy cirrus 04:01 56 15 13 275 (W) 671 cloudy cirrus Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
