Winds were primarily from the east - northeast after 2200 resulted in 2.0+ arcsecond seeing most of the night. Conditions never seemed threatening enough to close however between 0300 and 0400 clouds kept us from observing. Shortly before 2200 I lost, and could not regain control of, the NA2 guider. I tried everything I could to restore it however I eventually called Craig who talked me through the problem. Because of the clouds and seeing the guider was not very usable tonight even after we fixed this problem. No observing time was lost due to the guider crash. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW02 D T/H --:-- --:-- Gcam controller/hub interface crashed ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:21 SPIcam 75(2047) 140 75 21.7/24.3 185 5 empty 0.84 21:29 SPIcam 25(1983) 151 53 21.6/24.1 193 6 B 0.9 21:57 NA2gdr -3893(25106) 163 55 21.5/23.3 179 4 R 0.87 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 79 32 16 296 (WNW) 631 mstly clr none 17:01 83 31 12 273 (W) 517 mstly clr none 18:01 81 31 11 274 (W) 478 mstly clr none 19:01 76 27 7 261 (W) 426 mstly clr none 20:01 73 26 6 270 (W) 498 mstly clr none 21:01 72 26 4 249 (WSW) 525 prtly cldy none 22:01 70 35 12 126 (SE) 539 prtly cldy none 23:01 68 39 6 130 (SE) 622 prtly cldy none 00:01 68 37 4 205 (SSW) 623 prtly cldy none 01:01 66 39 5 89 (E) 772 prtly cldy none 02:01 68 32 0 251 (WSW) 672 prtly cldy none 03:01 63 26 4 44 (NE) 726 cloudy none 04:01 68 15 15 38 (NE) 510 prtly cldy none 05:01 68 16 4 345 (NNW) 273 prtly cldy none 06:01 66 18 2 287 (WNW) 514 prtly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
