Dust was occasionally borderline, but an adjustment of the fan configuration kept it to acceptable levels inside the dome. There was one crash of the echelle guider during evening twilight, and some evidence of drift in tracking when I was not able to find a guide star, but otherwise everything worked well. The drift was not bad enough to cause image distortion in short exposures; it was only a problem for unguided exposures longer than 15 minutes. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NM01 E I/S 19:18 19:23 Echelle SV crash ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:00 Echelle -5(193) 235 52 3.6/4.0 10 6 ND2 1.78 21:35 dis-slit 0(915) 48 73 3.9/3.3 8 15 - 1.9 21:37 NA2gdr -2509(28490)47 73 3.8/3.3 350 12 R 1.28 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 40 8 10 318 (NW) 1820 clear none 17:01 42 8 8 282 (WNW) 1627 clear none 18:01 41 6 21 330 (NNW) 1328 clear none 19:01 40 4 20 319 (NW) 1587 clear none 20:01 39 4 10 3 (N) 2098 clear none 21:01 38 4 16 14 (NNE) 2862 clear none 22:01 38 5 10 51 (NE) 2857 clear none 23:01 37 5 15 357 (N) 2490 clear none 00:01 37 4 19 16 (NNE) 2359 clear none 01:01 36 5 18 18 (NNE) 2325 clear none 02:01 35 8 22 28 (NNE) 1503 clear none 03:01 35 8 13 27 (NNE) 1356 clear none 04:01 35 9 19 66 (ENE) 1329 clear none 05:01 33 12 12 80 (E) 1273 clear none 06:01 33 11 5 86 (E) 1245 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
