We also had an east wind and bad to unmeasurably awful seeing. We stayed closed for a while after sunset, then opened and focused during a hole, but clouds closed in and prevented almost all science. Second half, the observer made an attempt with DIS, then got some actual spectra with the echelle but estimated the solar/lunar contamination probably made several of them useless. At least we got to put the echelle through its paces and get spectra of real things. The time listed as observed for both halves is an estimate of how much was actually useful. Tere was one slitviewer crash, but the telescope kept tracking nicely and no time was lost. During the cloudy time at the beginning of the night, I did some annual statistics prep work and took darks and biases with SPIcam (both pristine, no pattern noise and zero dark current). ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:05 DISslit -100(921) -53 70 4.4/5.7 69 25 - 2.8 23:09 NA2gdr -3488(19512)-54 69 4.3/5.5 84 11 R 2.41 02:45 Echelle 150(221) >5 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 57 21 10 262 (W) 1120 mstly cldy none 17:01 55 22 9 268 (W) 913 mstly cldy none 18:01 48 25 12 73 (ENE) 905 mstly cldy none 19:01 44 24 13 79 (ENE) 994 mstly cldy none 20:01 42 24 15 77 (ENE) 1035 mstly cldy none 21:01 41 24 16 74 (ENE) 1128 mstly cldy none 22:01 40 24 17 75 (ENE) 1233 mstly cldy none 23:01 40 24 22 73 (ENE) 1187 ptly cldy none 00:01 39 22 19 88 (E) 1098 mstly cldy none 01:01 38 24 17 76 (ENE) 1147 mstly cldy none 02:01 38 23 17 76 (ENE) 1166 mstly cldy none 03:01 37 23 11 86 (E) 1336 ptly cldy none 04:01 37 23 14 112 (ESE) 1280 ptly cldy none 05:01 37 24 13 139 (SE) 1514 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
