Seeing was good to excellent, frequently subarcsecond. Because the echelle is still in an uncertain state, the time from last night that should have been traded back to UW12 went to another UW program instead. We started out with some tests of guiding software, resolved a few problems seen in guider behavior last night, and discovered some other problems. Guider behavior was tested both on the NA2 guider and the echelle slitviewer. For the middle of the night, UW10 got some observations with DIS that went very smoothly, except for the difficulty of adjusting the slitview display scale for the bright moony backgrounds. During second half, I ran lots of echelle test images, which all made it safely to disk without errors even though there were some interesting variations in readout time. At the same time tried a little pickup science with DIS (too much moon), then took a larger pointing model since a significant number of the points from last night's model had to be discarded. The results of this model looked very good. I then used SPIcam to obtain lots of images of scattered moonlight; these may have been adversely affected by the high clouds, but hopefully will still be useful. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 04:42 SPIcam 50(1377) 153 54 8.1/8.2 316 11 R 0.86 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 52 11 9 288 (WNW) 1376 clear none 17:01 51 8 10 305 (NW) 1395 clear none 18:01 56 11 10 269 (W) 1544 clear none 19:01 52 10 4 270 (W) 1520 clear none 20:01 47 5 5 264 (W) 1532 clear none 21:01 48 6 8 247 (WSW) 1738 clear none 22:01 48 7 7 215 (SW) 1900 clear none 23:01 48 6 4 188 (S) 1805 clear none 00:01 48 5 11 219 (SW) 1962 clear none 01:01 48 3 8 222 (SW) 1929 mstly clr none 02:01 48 3 11 238 (WSW) 1987 cirrus none 03:01 46 2 9 266 (W) 1905 cirrus none 04:01 48 3 11 291 (WNW) 1689 cirrus none 05:01 46 3 3 346 (NNW) 1575 cirrus none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
