Seeing was excellent and subarcsecond until after 0345 when it became moderate for the remainder of the night. A few minutes prior to 2200 the telescope apparently quit tracking with "ControllerErr"s and read timeout errors on LTA3,LTA4, and LTA5. Was able to restore tracking in short order therefore no downtime will be counted however the real cause should be looked into by the daystaff today. About an hour later, the dhcp server went down and all computers without fixed ip addresses could not talk to the network. Normally an inconvience, but compounded with sound card problems on the Observers terminal it became a bothersome problem since I had no way to get TUI sounds (I had been using TUI on my laptop). I was the observer second half of the night so lack of sounds did not present a huge difficulty for long. Second half went smoothly and I ran out of targets to observe by 0430. At that time I used the time to take and implement a new guider instrument block since the gmech and optics had recently been worked on. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- JH03 N T/U --:-- --:-- Telescope stopped tracking ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:58 nicfps 50(1679) 167 76 8.7/10.7 233 11 MkJ 0.66 20:05 NA2gdr -6650(40450)174 75 9.5/10.6 258 11 R 0.64 01:13 SPIcam 100(1414) -2 78 9.4/9.2 232 12 r 0.70 01:22 NA2gdr -9331(29768)-9 78 9.3/9.2 227 14 R+nd2 0.83 03:39 SPIcam 30(1397) -12054 7.8/9.2 193 20 r 0.74 03:39 NA2gdr -7576(31523)-11954 7.8/9.2 193 20 R+nd2 0.77 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 56 36 15 217 (SW) 0 mstly cldy none 17:01 53 37 11 226 (SW) 0 mstly cldy none 18:01 56 34 9 208 (SSW) 0 mstly cldy none 19:01 51 31 13 265 (W) 1321 mstly cldy none 20:01 49 30 10 235 (SW) 1504 mstly cldy none 21:01 49 27 11 253 (WSW) 1569 mstly cldy none 22:01 49 26 9 266 (W) 1488 clear none 23:01 49 25 8 255 (WSW) 1485 clear none 00:01 49 24 7 204 (SSW) 1408 prtly cldy none 01:01 49 22 12 228 (SW) 1435 clear none 02:01 48 20 9 191 (S) 1340 clear none 03:01 47 32 12 192 (SSW) 1329 clear none 04:01 46 38 16 194 (SSW) 1470 clear none 05:01 45 36 13 217 (SW) 1486 clear none 06:01 46 28 8 245 (WSW) 1873 clear none 07:01 46 21 12 268 (W) 2643 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
