Widespread cirrus during first half disappeared shortly after midnight. Around 1 am, the guider shutter began to have problems. At the worst, perhaps 3 guider images out of 4 were unusable. I increased the guider exposure time from 5s to 15s and later to 30s, and this did reduce the occurence of the problem, but some fraction of guider images showed shutter failure for the remainder of the night. Since it was a warm night, this effectively rules out cold as a cause for the problem. Aside from the guider shutter, everything worked well. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:00 DISslit -75(1121) 59 61 7.5/9.2 8 1 - 1.25 20:05 NA2gdr -2852(28147) 59 62 7.2/9.1 7 3 R 0.86 22:50 SPIcam 25(1257) -73 68 7.0/7.0 77 11 g 0.67 22:50 NA2gdr -2500(34500) -73 68 7.0/7.0 77 11 R 0.56 23:04 SPIcam 50(1252) -37 69 6.7/6.3 182 2 g 1.15 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 50 2 13 308 (NW) 1811 cirrus none 17:01 50 4 11 324 (NW) 1755 cirrus none 18:01 50 3 10 322 (NW) 1757 cirrus none 19:01 47 2 8 4 (N) 1934 cirrus none 20:01 45 3 7 10 (N) 1964 cirrus none 21:01 45 3 13 33 (NNE) 1957 cirrus none 22:01 45 5 11 65 (ENE) 1902 cirrus none 23:01 45 5 8 85 (E) 2002 cirrus none 00:01 45 2 7 131 (SE) 1998 cirrus none 01:01 42 2 13 131 (SE) 1727 clear none 02:01 46 4 0 188 (S) 1374 clear none 03:01 44 2 4 189 (S) 1701 clear none 04:01 44 3 0 145 (SE) 1408 clear none 05:01 45 3 3 125 (SE) 1562 clear none 06:01 46 -1 6 87 (E) 3020 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
