Around 20:20 the clouds finally decided to get thicker and I opted to play it safe and close the mirror covers (threat of rain wasn't obvious, but better safe than sorry). About 20 mins later the clouds parted and I re-opened the mirror covers. That lasted oh about 15 mins and the clouds socked us in again, and I closed the covers again. We opened around 20:00 for about 20 mins and then the clouds moved back in. Finally about 20:30 I decided to play it even safer and close the dome. We never re-opened for the rest of the night. It was a cat and mouse game with the clouds, with the clouds eventually winning out. The observer eventually gave up around 04:00. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:39 NICFPS 90(1339) 68 62 0.0/1.6 264 17 J 1.36 18:47 NA2gdr 798(45798) 66 63 0.1/1.3 270 22 R 1.61 22:14 NICFPS 175(1341) -60 74 0.4/-0.1 303 16 R 0.82 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 37 18 21 256 (WSW) 1356 Mst.
