We tried opening a couple of times but were foiled by weather. The first attempt, from 19:55 to 20:05, revealed some bugs in the guider software, but the wind rode before we could even get focused. On the second attempt, from 21:10 to 21:40, we confirmed that the guider bug had been eliminated, found a new bug, focused the instrument, eliminated the new guider bug, and slewed to a science target before having to close because of dust without obtaining any science. Heavy clouds prevailed during second half, so we didn't open again. The guider software has been left in a functional but still somewhat buggy state. Work on it will continue. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:27 DISslit -50(918) 70 56 3.1/3.6 270 25 - 1.35 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 46 16 32 263 (W) 3025 mstly cldy dust,wind 17:01 44 15 31 252 (WSW) 4016 mstly cldy dust,wind 18:01 42 14 24 263 (W) 2974 mstly cldy none 19:01 40 15 28 244 (WSW) 2524 mstly cldy none 20:01 39 15 26 270 (W) 1693 ptly cldy none 21:01 38 15 29 253 (WSW) 1759 ptly cldy none 22:01 37 18 25 262 (W) 6059 mstly cldy dust,wind 23:01 36 20 26 263 (W) 4039 mstly cldy dust,wind 00:01 34 21 24 285 (WNW) 2235 mstly cldy none 01:01 33 22 16 257 (WSW) 1585 mstly cldy none 02:01 32 23 18 269 (W) 1043 mstly cldy none 03:01 31 24 15 277 (W) 999 mstly cldy none 04:01 31 22 15 263 (W) 863 mstly cldy none 05:01 30 22 18 268 (W) 714 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
