I was able to observe one Lens target under poor seeing conditions until the clouds returned and seeing got so bad that I had no other targets. I gave the telescope to the second half observer about 30 minutes early to start cals while we waited for the clouds to thin out again. At 0030, the observer was able to get on a target. Clouds continued to be bothersome for the remainder of the night however not to the extent we needed to close. By 0500, the humidity started to creep high enough that the question of which would occur first, twilight or the dew point depression limit. Twilight won. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:19 SPIcam 0(960) 139 69 -0.8/0.7 286 15 r' 1.73 22:22 NA2gdr 0(37000) 140 69 -0.8/0.5 289 20 R 1.52 23:32 Echelle 9(-66) -11970 -1.4/-1.3 289 7 ND2 2.7 04:15 Echelle 444(393) 184 34 -4.1/-3.7 61 4 nd3 2.8 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 37 25 22 245 (WSW) 576 cloudy none 17:01 37 24 22 243 (WSW) 517 cloudy none 18:01 37 21 29 254 (WSW) 2467 cloudy none 19:01 36 22 32 265 (W) 1611 cloudy none 20:01 34 24 22 263 (W) 1694 cloudy none 21:01 33 24 20 286 (WNW) 1946 cloudy none 22:01 31 11 12 272 (W) 607 clear none 23:01 30 8 18 281 (W) 562 mstly cldy none 00:01 29 11 13 298 (WNW) 726 mstly cldy none 01:01 27 16 11 293 (WNW) 838 prtly cldy none 02:01 27 17 10 344 (NNW) 854 prtly cldy none 03:01 25 17 10 308 (NW) 923 prtly cldy none 04:01 25 18 12 328 (NNW) 877 prtly cldy none 05:01 24 18 0 212 (SSW) 898 prtly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
