When the observer finished her cals I had a bit of trouble with the echelle guider but luckily with Craigs assistance it was fixed. The communication link could not be established properly because a terminal server rebooted yesterday. We were not able to remain on the sky long due to a humidity spike and then never reopened first half because the dewpoint depression was dangerously close to the limit. Around 1:30am the humidity dropped significantly and stayed there the rest of the night. Second half we opened to cloudy skies at around 2am. A high speed video camera borrowed from WIYN was planned for engineering tests however I ended up fighting the creation of an instrument block for it the rest of the night. A combination of factors, such as finding an object in the small field of view, having difficulty finding the proper focus, having problems believing the centroid information that the camera outputs, weather and a number of human errors on my part made for a frustrating night. I thought I had it all straightened out around 05:30 when I implemented my instrument block and then could no longer find any stars after that. Nothing useful accomplished, the final instrument block I created will need to be redone on the 17th. There was some strange behavior seen on the DATAq computer that the day staff should look into. A PR was filed. The day staff will need to unmount i the collimator plate from NA2. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- CU04 E I/H --:-- --:-- Could not establish communications with guide camera. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:46 Echelle -44(-110) 151 72 -1.8/-0.9 271 10 nd2 1.12 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 31 25 11 268 (W) - cloudy none 17:01 30 24 9 291 (WNW) - cloudy none 18:01 29 22 11 300 (WNW) - cloudy none 19:01 29 24 7 273 (W) - cloudy none 20:01 29 24 6 266 (W) - cloudy none 21:01 29 23 8 291 (WNW) - cloudy none 22:01 30 22 6 280 (W) - cloudy none 23:01 29 23 6 267 (W) - cloudy none 00:01 29 23 8 215 (SW) - cloudy none 01:01 30 16 5 266 (W) - cloudy none 02:01 29 19 5 272 (W) - cloudy none 03:01 29 20 8 287 (WNW) - cloudy none 04:01 29 20 6 293 (WNW) - cloudy none 05:01 30 17 7 342 (NNW) - cloudy none 06:01 29 17 8 347 (NNW) - cloudy none 07:01 31 20 5 333 (NNW) - cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
