After exhausting all the standard troubleshooting tasks I tried to reach Craig Loomis who was out of town. He could not be reached right away. After I opened I advised the observer that we had no guider and she would need to guide by hand. I was able to reach Craig sortly after I focused and we began troubleshooting the guider. In no time it was obvious that the GMech controller was also hung, leaving to some nasty side affects of commands piling up in the hub. The observer was not able to properly offset because of this therefore I counted the hour we took to resolve this subproblem as lost time. Craig suspects that the problem resides in the tcc35m computer's stack since we tested all the other usual suspects (guider, gmech, hub, and terminal server). This unfortunately is best corrected by a reboot of the tcc35m. Craig will do that during the day today and see if he can narrow the problem further. For the rest of the night we were unable to control the guider or gmech, resulting in errors in the TUI/telrun for each Collimation update. The dataq data looked 'OK' however stars were elongated all night along the altitude axis. Closed at 0330 when we hit the dew point depression limit. Never reopened. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW13 D T/S 19:30 20:30 tcc35m stack confusion ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:41 dis-slit -100(587) 165 77 -2.9/-1.8 16 8 - 0.99 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 28 16 21 321 (NW) 144 cloudy blowing snow 17:01 26 20 11 17 (NNE) 301 cloudy blowing snow 18:01 27 17 8 356 (N) 130 cloudy blowing snow 19:01 27 17 15 358 (N) 182 cloudy blowing snow 20:01 27 18 8 15 (NNE) 174 mstly clr none 21:01 27 17 6 354 (N) 182 clear none 22:01 26 17 5 343 (NNW) 227 mstly cldy none 23:01 26 16 5 358 (N) 235 clear none 00:01 26 17 8 2 (N) 230 clear none 01:01 26 19 5 1 (N) 285 clear none 02:01 26 19 8 308 (NW) 300 clear none 03:01 24 20 8 312 (NW) 234 clear humid 04:01 25 18 13 341 (NNW) 302 clear humid 05:01 24 19 7 355 (N) 314 clear humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
