The clouds and radar traces thinned out somewhat during the evening, but not enough for us to feel safe about opening or optimistic about getting data. By 21:30, the observer's targets were getting low in the sky and he had no hope of getting enough time on them to collect data, so he said I could use the time in any way that might be helpful to us. Since the clouds were fairly thin and some critical daystaff were present, I decided to open and watch star behavior on the SH video camera. I was able to get some SH data and check collimation at the same time that we confirmed that the motor behavior has improved since the difficulties on Sunday night. We weren't on the sky long before heavier clouds moved in again and I re-closed. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: J.Barentine "Second verse, same as the first!" Rain finally arrived at 01:50. We never opened. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 43 28 7 243 (WSW) cloudy none 17:01 40 30 8 266 (W) cloudy none 18:01 39 28 6 251 (WSW) cloudy none 19:01 40 21 9 268 (W) cloudy none 20:01 40 24 10 262 (W) mstly cldy none 21:01 40 20 9 266 (W) ptly cldy none 22:01 41 19 6 275 (W) mstly cldy none 23:01 41 22 10 317 (NW) cloudy none 00:01 39 22 3 225 (SW) Overcast none 01:01 41 22 5 267 (W) Overcast none 02:01 39 26 10 261 (W) Overcast lt rain 03:01 38 26 10 235 (SW) Overcast lt rain 04:01 38 24 9 265 (W) Overcast lt rain 05:01 38 24 9 269 (W) Overcast none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
