We were open briefly after dark, when it looked like conditions were sufficient to observe, but then we closed just after 20:00 when there were no focus stars on the guider and some radar returns east of TorC made me nervous. Throughout the night the clouds alternately thickened and thinned, but never became thin enough for us to observe through. We did not re-open. I had some trouble calibrating the DIS gratings around midnight after the shift change (the first-half program had a non-standard grating setup that had to be switched back for the second half program). Sending out a PR with the nightlog... And last but not least, I have to give a shout-out to my home state of Arizona, proudly celebrating the 93rd anniversary of statehood. And you all thought today was "only" Valentine's Day.... ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:31 DISslit -200(810) 166 76 4.1/5.6 278 9 - 1.08 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 41 2 10 264 (W) MstlyCldy none 17:01 43 7 11 261 (W) MstlyCldy none 18:01 40 11 10 264 (W) Overcast none 19:01 40 15 7 271 (W) Overcast none 20:01 39 20 11 269 (W) Overcast none 21:01 39 18 13 267 (W) Overcast none 22:01 40 17 14 270 (W) Overcast none 23:01 39 18 11 275 (W) Overcast none 00:01 40 18 13 301 (WNW) Overcast none 01:01 38 19 11 275 (W) MstlyCldy none 02:01 38 12 11 269 (W) MstlyCldy none 03:01 37 16 10 266 (W) Overcast none 04:01 38 15 11 273 (W) Overcast none 05:01 37 15 10 294 (WNW) Overcast none 06:01 37 19 11 300 (WNW) Overcast none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
