The lower left louver was observed closing on its own during APOLLO operations tonight. It could not be controlled open and the fuse was checked to be good. At the instrument change at midnight it was noticed by the second half observer that DIS was not configured properly. A quick check revealed that I had misread her setup request. While trying to comply with her request it was discovered I needed to do a grating change. Thirty minutes was lost configuring the instrument to the requested setup, primarily due to the cold conditions in the dome during the equipment change. Apologies once again to the observer. There were no other notable problems the remainder of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- DD01 A T/H --:-- --:-- Lower left louver failed UW09 S T/H --:-- --:-- Lower left louver failed UW06 D T/H --:-- --:-- Lower left louver failed ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:19 SPIcam 50(393) 166 78 -6.6/-6.4 221 12 r 1.68 19:27 NA2gdr -3536(29463) 210 53 -6.8/-6.6 221 12 R 1.22 20:53 SPIcam 250(719) 248 29 -6.9/-7.4 215 11 r 1.73 22:57 SPIcam 50(510) 223 48 -4.6/-5.4 263 14 r 1.12 00:37 dis-slit 30(336) 222 49 -5.2/-5.4 288 13 - 0.88 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 28 -5 16 208 (SSW) 1389 clear none 17:01 24 -4 16 234 (SW) 1862 clear none 18:01 23 -3 13 224 (SW) 2204 clear none 19:01 21 -2 12 239 (WSW) 2070 clear none 20:01 19 -1 9 222 (SW) 2230 clear none 21:01 19 1 12 210 (SSW) 2794 clear none 22:01 22 -2 18 229 (SW) 2035 clear none 23:01 24 -4 18 261 (W) 1657 clear none 00:01 24 -4 14 264 (W) 1296 clear none 01:01 23 -3 10 321 (NW) 1456 clear none 02:01 23 -3 15 323 (NW) 1057 clear none 03:01 25 -4 24 307 (NW) 1079 clear none 04:01 26 -4 20 319 (NW) 925 clear none 05:01 26 -6 17 318 (NW) 704 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
