At least it meant good seeing. After a few hours of spectra through variable clouds, the observer decided to donate some time to IR observations of a GRB, without an official pre-empt. I took the data since the observer was unfamiliar with NIC or the GRB program. There was one hangup of NIC in mid-exposure, requiring the nub to be restarted; otherwise, everything went smoothly. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: B.Ketzeback Performed service observing second half. I was able to observe the three high priority targets before the cirrus got too thick to observe further. I gave up when all the requested targets were greater than 3 airmasses. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:57 DISslit -25(1011) 131 62 10.8/12.5 299 11 - 0.93 17:59 NA2gdr -7153(21846) 132 62 10.9/12.5 306 14 R 0.74 22:01 NICFPS 150(1534) 296 52 10.9/10.6 268 8 Ks 0.76 00:16 dis-slit 50(965) 207 76 10.9/10.3 263 5 - 0.87 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 54 19 11 268 (W) 814 mstly cldy none 17:01 53 20 9 296 (WNW) 883 mstly cldy none 18:01 52 21 15 301 (WNW) 838 mstly cldy none 19:01 51 21 12 309 (NW) 995 mstly cldy none 20:01 52 22 12 317 (NW) 1062 ptly cldy none 21:01 51 22 9 286 (WNW) 1063 ptly cldy none 22:01 52 21 8 269 (W) 1150 ptly cldy none 23:01 52 23 7 265 (W) 1145 mstly clr none 00:01 51 24 5 258 (WSW) 1174 mstly cldy none 01:01 51 24 5 254 (WSW) 1297 mstly cldy none 02:01 51 23 4 257 (WSW) 1192 mstly cldy none 03:01 51 22 7 270 (W) 1084 cloudy none 04:01 51 23 7 269 (W) 1180 cloudy none 05:01 51 23 6 282 (WNW) 1165 cloudy none 06:01 50 21 2 355 (N) 981 cloudy none 07:01 51 18 2 18 (NNE) 799 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
