A few systems complained about the cold weather, most notably the DIS slitviewer shutter. I made an adjustment to the azimuth velocity scales, and the slitviewer shutter warmed up after a few tries, and after that there were no problems. There were several wind gusts over the limit starting around 19:30, but since the telescope was pointing out of the wind and there were no indications of difficulty tracking, I let it go until much stronger gusts started around 21:00. 2nd half Observing Specialist: J.Dembicky Wind kept us closed until around 04:30. No problems 2nd half ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:37 DISslit 150(339) 152 48 -7.8/-8.2 342 16 - 2.1 04:38 SPIcam 200(787) 45 73 -2.8/-4.5 19 18 i' 1.35 04:46 NA2gdr -2764(30235) 39 74 -2.2/-4.3 15 18 clear 1.55 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 19 -10 8 330 (NNW) 564 clear none 17:01 18 -12 15 276 (W) 475 clear none 18:01 18 -10 10 355 (N) 521 clear none 19:01 17 -6 20 346 (NNW) 317 clear none 20:01 17 -5 21 2 (N) 276 clear none 21:01 16 -3 32 17 (NNE) 356 clear wind 22:01 17 -6 27 18 (NNE) 287 clear wind 23:01 18 -9 31 23 (NNE) 189 Clear windy 00:01 20 -13 29 21 (NNE) 90 Clear windy 01:01 29 -26 18 19 (NNE) 331 Clear windy 02:01 28 -26 16 27 (NNE) 147 Clear windy 03:01 28 -33 25 352 (N) 109 Clear windy 04:01 27 -29 15 19 (NNE) 67 Clear none 05:01 28 -29 14 349 (NNW) 68 Clear none 06:01 29 -26 14 18 (NNE) 32 Clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
