Very high winds (Gusts 65+ MPH) kept us closed all night. We had a power failure around 1:44 and the backup generators kicked in. The white stuff started flying around 03:15. When I went to close the telescope down for the night, the mirror covers were un-responsive (both auto and manual mode). The eyelid worked fine. I kept the telescope at it's altitude and moved in azimuth to it's park position, mirror covers are now in manual mode but need immediate attention as I can't open them at all. PR sent on problem. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- -- -- T/H --:-- --:-- Mirror covers failed ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 39 20 24 241 (WSW) 7200 Cloudy dust 17:01 39 20 22 255 (WSW) 6530 Cloudy dust 18:01 38 22 25 238 (WSW) 5261 Cloudy dust 19:01 39 22 25 232 (SW) 2553 Cloudy dust 20:01 38 19 27 246 (WSW) 3145 Cloudy dust 21:01 37 18 28 267 (W) 5156 Cloudy dust 22:01 37 19 32 251 (WSW) 6039 Cloudy dust 23:01 36 24 34 230 (SW) 5537 Cloudy dust 00:01 34 27 31 261 (W) 5267 Cloudy dust 01:01 33 26 42 271 (W) 6203 Cloudy dust 02:01 31 23 46 278 (W) 36831 Cloudy dust 03:01 29 22 38 269 (W) 6971 Cloudy snow 04:01 20 19 28 308 (NW) 2244 Cloudy snow Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
