The night started with borderline humidity, so I watched it for a while before caving in and opening. As soon as I got focused, clouds moved in, so data taking was very frustrating. After the program change, humidity spiked and I closed. Then the air warmed, but the dewpoint didn't drop, so I was reluctant to re-open with a cool telescope despite the technically acceptable humidity. When I re-opened at last, the airtemp dropped (but the dewpoint stayed down), so I ended up being open at a higher relative humidity than I had previously been closed at. Finally a combination of clouds and nervous-making humidity prompted the observer to quit a little early. The only problem aside from the weather was the outdated TUI version on the JHU observing computer. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:33 dis-slit 125(1284) 177 58 13.6/15.1 192 11 - 1.0 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 63 51 17 202 (SSW) ptly cldy none 17:01 62 54 16 207 (SSW) ptly cldy none 18:01 60 54 14 187 (S) ptly cldy none 19:01 56 51 12 185 (S) ptly cldy none 20:01 56 50 17 198 (SSW) ptly cldy none 21:01 55 49 13 201 (SSW) mstly clr none 22:01 57 50 8 189 (S) ptly cldy none 23:01 57 50 13 190 (S) ptly cldy none 00:01 56 49 11 179 (S) ptly cldy none 01:01 54 50 6 181 (S) ptly cldy none 02:01 52 51 4 156 (SSE) mstly clr none 03:01 55 49 9 229 (SW) mstly clr none 04:01 54 49 9 199 (SSW) mstly clr none 05:01 53 48 6 196 (SSW) mstly clr none 06:01 52 48 8 179 (S) ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
