Dembicky The rotator motor overcurrented sometime before 22:48, I would guess maybe 3-5 mins before I caught it but not sure since the tcc doesn't timestamp things that we can read easily. Anyhow an axis stop/restart and then slew fixed the problem. I don't think any science was lost since the field only rotated 0.5 deg before I had the problem fixed, and they were only taking 5 sec exposures. At 04:14 my observer noted the seeing seemed to much worse (I don't know if it was sudden or not). The secondary temp was about 4C warmer than any of the other readings (8C vs. 4-5C for other measurements, incl outside air). I have never seen our secondary warmer (during night operations after cooldown) than the all the other values and this may be the cause of the seeing shift. It seemed to be jumping around about 1C as well every 30 sec. We closed at 04:35 when the clouds appeared to worsen and the observer reported no stars in the images for the past several minutes. We also had clouds to our East which appeared to be moving westward, actually we were circled by clouds but the cloudcam showed a flow off the clouds to the East moving over us. Not a good omen. With threatening weather coming up from the SW I called the night at 5AM. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW07 T/H --:-- --:-- Sec temp sensor bad values ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:28 DISslit -150(737) 8 77 7.5/9.8 78 8 none 1.5 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 55 27 6 263 (W) -- Clear none 17:01 55 25 5 254 (WSW) -- Clear none 18:01 49 27 2 227 (SW) -- Clear none 19:01 45 27 7 82 (E) -- Clear none 20:01 43 28 12 80 (E) -- Clear none 21:01 42 30 15 84 (E) -- Clear none 22:01 42 29 16 83 (E) -- Clear none 23:01 42 28 18 86 (E) -- Clear none 00:01 41 31 15 87 (E) -- Clear none 01:01 41 31 18 73 (ENE) -- Clear none 02:01 41 32 21 71 (ENE) -- Pt.
