My observer logged in a little early tonight to get a feel for using NIC-FPS. After a few minor glitches we he got going. Stephane B. Logged in because of the filter wheel problem reported last night and we discovered that the mask was not in the proper position to do darks (30 sec darks showed a definate gradient). Stephane worked on while I did my final test slews. He got things working properly and we were on the sky focusing around 17:45. Stephane told us that they would take care of filter changes from Colorado tonight. We had a small ICC problem while Stephane was changing filters at 19:40 and couldn't communicate with the program. Stephane had me exit the program and restarted and all was well again. Humidity shot over the limit around 21:20 and forced us to close. The dew point depression never climbed above the 2.2 deg limit for the remainder of the night (Actually the outside air temp rose as well as the dewpoint and with a closed dome the secondary become colder than the dewpoint at one time. I places a heater on the floor under the secondary cage to try to warm things up a little). ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW14 N I/H 19:40 19:45 NIC-FPS program lost communitcation ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:48 NIC-FPS 385(1529) 92 71 1.9/4.2 352 3 Ks 0.71 20:04 NIC-FPS 325(1411) -19 63 1.9/2.1 256 5 Ks 0.85 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 41 27 2 201 (SSW) Mst.
