I spent much of the first hour fighting the NA2 Guider and the filter wheel misalignment issues. I finally resolved the problem with repeated REMAPS and repeated use of the C.Loomis Gmech filter wheel Hack. I was stuck using the R filter the rest of first half because of the unreliability of switching guider filters. The observer was able to guide by hand while I worked on the above described problem. 2nd half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half had increasing high clouds with moderate seeing. I didn't attempt to move the guider filter wheel, and everything else worked perfectly except the weather, which was fairly opaque by morning twilight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UC02 D T/H --:-- --:-- NA2Gdr Filter Wheel misalignment ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:32 dis-slit -200(864) 155 76 5.1/6.9 322 3 - 0.98 18:44 NA2gdr -2000(31100) 170 76 5.0/6.6 290 2 nd3 0.68 00:39 DISslit 50(1085) -45 48 5.5/4.5 301 1 - 1.41 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 46 18 4 268 (W) - prtly cldy none 17:01 42 18 1 3 (N) - prtly cldy none 18:01 42 16 1 341 (NNW) - prtly cldy none 19:01 41 13 2 302 (WNW) - prtly cldy none 20:01 42 13 6 307 (NW) - prtly cldy none 21:01 40 13 7 334 (NNW) - prtly cldy none 22:01 41 12 1 355 (N) - prtly cldy none 23:01 40 12 2 347 (NNW) - prtly cldy none 00:01 40 9 5 351 (N) cirrus none 01:01 43 9 3 352 (N) cirrus none 02:01 41 17 7 22 (NNE) cirrus none 03:01 46 15 9 76 (ENE) cirrus none 04:01 46 14 0 189 (S) prtly cldy none 05:01 47 15 10 59 (ENE) prtly cldy none 06:01 48 15 0 146 (SE) prtly cldy none 07:01 46 13 4 109 (ESE) prtly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
