By the time we opened at 19:00, the sky was beginning to clear as the clouds thinned. We began with DIS, then switched to SPIcam for a couple of hours of imaging at 22:00. Seeing was good -- better than an arcsecond for most of the half. Quiet first half. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half was photometric with mostly subarcsecond seeing (it was hard to be sure, since the target fields had many galaxies and few stars). There was one crash of the guider which required a power-cycle, unfortunately occuring as a high-altitude object transited and blind tracking was not too great. But that exposure was successful despite the difficulties, so we didn't really lose any time. Everything else was as smooth as creme brulee -- a near-perfect half-night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:41 DISslit -200(763) 204 81 3.1/4.7 202 1 - 0.83 18:46 NA2gdr -3727(27272)210 80 3.1/4.6 197 1 R 0.56 22:44 NA2gdr -2356(34643)172 77 2.7/1.9 95 3 R 0.69 22:44 SPIcam 50(1047) 172 77 2.7/1.9 95 3 6727 0.86 00:22 DISslit 50(914) 61 67 2.5/1.8 80 12 - 0.87 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 38 21 12 113 (ESE) MstlyCldy none 17:01 37 19 8 88 (E) MstlyCldy none 18:01 38 16 5 92 (E) MstlyCldy none 19:01 38 17 1 220 (SW) PtlyCldy none 20:01 36 19 2 351 (N) MstlyClr none 21:01 35 14 12 30 (NNE) Clear none 22:01 37 12 6 85 (E) Clear none 23:01 37 12 0 120 (ESE) Clear none 00:01 37 5 10 83 (E) clear none 01:01 35 2 1 85 (E) clear none 02:01 36 10 4 93 (E) clear none 03:01 37 12 2 102 (ESE) clear none 04:01 35 10 0 173 (S) clear none 05:01 37 15 11 78 (ENE) clear none 06:01 36 16 8 75 (ENE) clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
