Conditions were generally favorable throughout, with light winds, reasonably good seeing, low humidity, etc. The wind direction kept changing during the night, though for a good part of the night it was coming from the west. George lost a 20-minute echelle exposure at 18:50, after the image finished reading out. He noted that his status display was stuck at "Sending image to the MC...". I checked the ICC in the computer room to find that the ICC, at least, believed that the image had indeed been transferred properly starting at 18:50, finishing at 18:52. No image appeared on disk, however. George couldn't command the echelle at all (e.g., couldn't sync) while the same message appeared in his status window. I asked him to log out, restart Remark, and try a bias to make sure it was a software problem. He did, and the bias read out properly. There were no further problems, so it appears to have been a software-level problem... though we never did determine what happened to the image George lost after it read out. No problems or issues second half. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW17 E I/H 18:30 18:50 Lost an echelle exposure to apparent Remark failure ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:34 Echelle 10(129) 340 59 3.6/2.7 249 4 ND1 0.73 00:03 DISslit -25(792) 327 78 2.9/1.2 167 1 - 0.87 00:09 NA2gdr -2502(28497)323 77 3.1/1.1 240 4 R 0.87 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 41 6 9 229 (SW) Clear none 17:01 38 6 1 208 (SSW) Clear none 18:01 37 -10 5 240 (WSW) Clear none 19:01 36 -23 2 256 (WSW) Clear none 20:01 38 -26 5 266 (W) Clear none 21:01 38 -28 3 198 (SSW) Clear none 22:01 37 -30 1 196 (SSW) Clear none 23:01 35 2 4 181 (S) Clear none 00:01 37 -25 2 182 (S) Clear none 01:01 36 -17 1 270 (W) Clear none 02:01 37 -6 0 237 (WSW) Clear none 03:01 39 -30 1 302 (WNW) Clear none 04:01 38 -30 0 312 (NW) Clear none 05:01 39 2 4 91 (E) Clear none 06:01 39 7 5 91 (E) Clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
