Seeing was good to excellent first half, moderate second half. The observer scheduled for first half agreed to start late in order to let us get TOO observations of a setting target with CorMASS. This went smoothly, so I let UW05 run a little more time as payback, and also because there were no immediate emergencies that needed to be addressed with the EN time. I spent a couple of hours investigating the guider instrument block and the effects of different tertiary control schemes on pointing. Then I used the echelle to observe another TOO that was just rising before morning twilight. There was one crash of the echelle slitviewer ICC, but I only had to pause integrations for less than a minute in order to re-initialize, so almost no time was lost. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:14 cormass 80(1567) 138 65 12.2/14.0 188 7 - 0.66 21:27 SPIcam 25(1521) 287 59 12.2/12.6 193 5 r 0.67 21:29 NA2gdr -883(36116) 288 58 12.3/12.7 186 5 R 0.79 04:19 Echelle -5(588) 30 33 10.7/11.0 186 6 ND2 1.40 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 61 48 5 180 (S) ptly cldy none 17:01 61 47 9 197 (SSW) ptly cldy none 18:01 62 47 5 193 (SSW) mstly clr none 19:01 58 47 10 226 (SW) mstly clr none 20:01 54 45 9 196 (SSW) clear none 21:01 53 44 6 179 (S) clear none 22:01 54 43 8 190 (S) clear none 23:01 54 42 6 186 (S) clear none 00:01 53 43 5 185 (S) clear none 01:01 54 43 6 210 (SSW) clear none 02:01 52 44 7 185 (S) clear none 03:01 52 43 8 187 (S) clear none 04:01 52 39 6 187 (S) clear none 05:01 53 38 2 210 (SSW) clear none 06:01 53 37 3 244 (WSW) clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
