Because the weather satellites stop working in the middle of the night this close to the equinox, and the radar stations could only see reflections off the inversion layer, I was somewhat conservative about closing when the clouds got moderately thick, even though the observers estimated they could shoot through. Aside from the weather challenges, there was one crash of the NA2 guider controller, which took several minutes to reset but didn't cost any observing time. Everything else worked perfectly. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UC03 O T/S --:-- --:-- NA2gdr controller crash ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:33 SPIcam -50(1618) 184 56 14.6/16.4 129 17 z 0.84 04:34 SPIcam 50(1610) 214 51 12.7/13.5 129 9 z 0.92 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 67 39 11 172 (S) 800 mstly cldy lt rain 17:01 67 34 14 205 (SSW) 633 mstly cldy none 18:01 67 30 3 150 (SSE) 423 mstly cldy none 19:01 61 38 6 162 (SSE) 799 mstly cldy none 20:01 60 38 14 132 (SE) 813 ptly cldy none 21:01 59 38 13 126 (SE) 784 ptly cldy none 22:01 58 39 15 138 (SE) 827 ptly cldy none 23:01 58 39 19 134 (SE) 853 ptly cldy none 00:01 57 42 17 130 (SE) 996 ptly cldy none 01:01 57 42 11 149 (SSE) 1015 ptly cldy none 02:01 57 40 2 132 (SE) 850 mstly cldy none 03:01 58 36 0 209 (SSW) 780 mstly cldy none 04:01 57 38 1 169 (SSE) 791 ptly cldy none 05:01 54 44 14 130 (SE) 1004 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
