I decided to open for just a bit and take advantage of the warm telescope. This wasn't enough time to make much of a dent in the scheduled UW program, but we caught a quick nova for the CorMASS scientists until I discovered that the telescope temperature sensors were stuck and we were closer to the dewpoint than I suspected. After a couple of hours, the dewpoint dropped again and we pursued Galactic bulge targets into the treeline. The updated NA2 guider software behaved beautifully on crowded fields with horrible seeing at airmasses up to 6.5! Second half went very smoothly with the echelle except for a crash of the slitviewer ICC which required a little coddling to recover. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW07 E I/S 04:41 04:51 Ech SV ICC crash ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:09 cormass -75(1557) 185 25 9.6/13.4 55 16 - ?? 01:11 Echelle -45(412) 181 43 9.2/9.1 75 14 ND1 1.0 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 54 47 5 280 (W) ptly cldy none 17:01 55 47 6 265 (W) ptly cldy none 18:01 54 43 0 28 (NNE) ptly cldy none 19:01 51 44 10 76 (ENE) ptly cldy none 20:01 49 45 17 68 (ENE) mstly clr none 21:01 48 45 19 67 (ENE) mstly clr none 22:01 49 42 22 53 (NE) mstly clr none 23:01 50 39 17 58 (ENE) clear none 00:01 48 39 13 63 (ENE) clear none 01:01 48 37 12 70 (ENE) clear none 02:01 50 32 5 48 (NE) clear none 03:01 50 34 1 82 (E) clear none 04:01 49 38 0 263 (W) clear none 05:01 47 41 2 355 (N) clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
