Tonight, with beautiful photometric skies and good seeing, was spent on a combination of science and lower-priority engineering. We started with a photometric program which included twilight flats (useful as a check of the new NA2 baffle) and long unguided exposures (blind tracking tests). Work and tests on the new guider algorithms were done in parallel. Second half, we switched to DIS for more blind tracking tests and an evaluation of the effects of a recent mishap with the blue medium grating. We also got a SPIcam instrument block as a check against recent work on the rotator (no measurable change from last year). ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:33 SPIcam 150(1731) 87 51 13.7/-10.4 259 8 R 1.01 01:27 dis-slit 25(1496) -12341 14.1/-10.4 269 9 - 0.99 01:34 NA2gdr -3929(30070)-12240 14.1/-10.4 268 7 R 0.90 04:38 SPIcam 50(1564) 176 60 13.2/-10.4 355 5 V 0.72 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 65 40 5 222 (SW) 120179 clear none 17:01 67 40 11 274 (W) 119133 clear none 18:01 66 40 8 281 (W) 122450 clear none 19:01 63 40 12 261 (W) 0 clear none 20:01 58 38 7 262 (W) 0 clear none 21:01 59 36 7 249 (WSW) 0 clear none 22:01 58 31 10 256 (WSW) 0 clear none 23:01 58 28 7 267 (W) 0 clear none 00:01 57 28 4 264 (W) 0 clear none 01:01 57 27 7 264 (W) 69470 clear none 02:01 57 26 4 264 (W) 74451 clear none 03:01 57 27 4 274 (W) 69360 clear none 04:01 57 28 8 305 (NW) 60756 clear none 05:01 55 28 7 324 (NW) 77201 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
