It checked out with normal looking images during my checkout but when I tried focusing the camera horizontal lines, blank black or white chunks, lots of horizontal noise would occur on each frame. I wiggled the connectors on the back of the control box on the int. level (to no avail) and then rebooted everything (no dice either). I was able to focus the camera after the reboot (it could see the star, but noise remained in the field). The guider would work (since the star was bright enough to penetrate the noise) but I warned the observer to watch her object in the slit to make sure it stayed put. After about 5 mins of guiding the problem seemed to go away (at least for the time being). No science time was lost. NA2guider camera temp was around -15C. The NA2guider seemed well behaved for the remainder of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW04 D T/H --:-- --:-- NA2gdr flaky, noisy image ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:01 DISslit -50(1500) -26 73 15.4/17.9 262 18 none 0.92 21:30 DISslit -40(1515) 144 45 14.8/16.4 256 16 none 1.1 21:35 NA2gdr -678(46321) 144 46 15.2/16.2 263 16 R 1.1 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 67 37 16 224 (SW) 3760 Mst.
