Daystaff came in and remapped all telescope axes and homed M2 and M3, among other important tasks. Nothing was damaged by the incident, but the adjustments to axes and mirrors might be expected to have some effect on our collimation and pointing. The evening started out with nearby thunderstorms. We had only a light sprinkling of rain, but even when the threat had passed it was overcast for several hours. The dome was opened at 00:30, but there were still several magnitudes of extinction, too much to allow work with the GFP. I was able to do some engineering through the clouds, however, so I got the collimation and pointing fixed while the conditions slowly improved. After 03:00 we were finally able to get to science, which went fairly smoothly. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 00:37 NA2gdr -5151(45848) 113 47 11.4/10.6 189 10 R 1.65 03:56 gfp -25(1504) -170 35 10.0/10.2 181 16 Halpha1.44 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 59 37 12 216 (SW) 823 ptly cldy none 17:01 61 40 15 202 (SSW) 836 mstly cldy none 18:01 57 44 11 125 (SE) 1197 mstly cldy lt rain 19:01 50 35 13 87 (E) 735 cloudy lt rain 20:01 49 34 18 89 (E) 673 cloudy none 21:01 48 39 16 101 (E) 851 cloudy none 22:01 48 37 19 117 (ESE) 613 mstly cldy none 23:01 48 36 18 126 (SE) 491 mstly cldy none 00:01 52 33 10 178 (S) 943 ptly cldy none 01:01 53 31 9 155 (SSE) 991 ptly cldy none 02:01 53 30 12 189 (S) 836 ptly cldy none 03:01 50 32 11 165 (SSE) 1613 ptly cldy none 04:01 50 31 16 161 (SSE) 709 mstly clr none 05:01 50 31 13 214 (SW) 584 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
