Once she had finished cals I went to open and focus when I noted that the Enclosure Collision had been tripped. John B. and I inspected the collisions sensors and found they had not been physically engaged. It took several resets of the Enclosure Amplifiers (waiting a sufficient time for the capacitors to discharge) to get the Collision Button on the Intermediate Level to reset. Once on the sky and focused (telescope and guider) the Na2 Guider was unable to locate stars for the remainder of the night. Camera temperatures were warmer than expected (-15C to -19C) the remainder of the night. We guided by hand all night watching the DIS slitview camera. About 40 minutes before the end of first half the Obs-specs Unix Machine, jeppe, froze. It did not respond to mouse or keyboard input. Likewise it could not be remotely accessed and was not responding to pings. I started another TUI session on another terminal in the control room and then power cycled jeppe, holding my breath the entire time. It seemed to reboot fine. The second half observers also wished to experiment running TUI from a home connection however they could not get it installed on their personal machine and tried to run it on a work machine displaying the TUI windows. Not suprisingly, this experiment was not very successful. I ended up running the slitviewer for them and Kurt took over slews and lamps locally. Skies were clear and seeing was moderate with some short excursions to poor conditions throughout the night. Shortly before twilight dust levels went above closure limits but I reconfigured fans to remain ok until the science frame had finished. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UC01 D T/H --:-- --:-- Encl Amp overcurrent trip UC01 D T/H --:-- --:-- NA2Gdr could find no stars UC01 D T/H --:-- --:-- jeppe crashed NM07 D T/H --:-- --:-- NA2Gdr could find no stars ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:37 dis-slit -70(1319) 133 72 12.1/14.2 255 17 - 1.25 20:44 NA2gdr -2765(44234)136 73 11.9/14.0 242 25 clear 1.26 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 59 29 17 268 (W) 896 clear none 17:01 63 20 23 250 (WSW) 790 clear none 18:01 61 14 23 269 (W) 1359 clear none 19:01 58 10 25 262 (W) 838 clear none 20:01 54 12 17 263 (W) 998 clear none 21:01 53 18 19 248 (WSW) 1358 clear none 22:01 53 18 27 269 (W) 1516 clear none 23:01 52 20 25 255 (WSW) 1359 clear none 00:01 51 21 29 264 (W) 1566 clear none 01:01 50 22 27 262 (W) 1689 clear none 02:01 49 24 15 265 (W) 1752 clear none 03:01 48 25 15 262 (W) 1956 clear none 04:01 47 27 15 268 (W) 1861 clear none 05:01 45 32 16 268 (W) 2192 clear dust Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
