Then the wind shifted north, the air warmed, and the humidity dropped. For the remainder of the night, we had photometric weather with moderate seeing, but large temperature swings made it difficult to track focus. During checkout GRIM had two bad quadrants. After a power cycle it had three good and one not-quite-there quadrant. Once we got going on the sky, all four quadrants started working and seemed pretty stable throughout the remainder of the night. We also found a new and rather obscure bug in the spicam code. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:00 SPIcam 50(1095) 81 68 0.7/2.6 62 16 z 2.1 00:17 GrIm2(f/10) 275(1093) -75 69 3.4/1.0 359 2 J 0.96 01:53 GrIm2(f/10) 125(1030) 288 49 2.8/1.7 355 6 J 1.25 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 51 25 9 228 (SW) 570 ptly cldy none 17:01 47 22 11 263 (W) 520 ptly cldy none 18:01 50 22 11 243 (WSW) 580 ptly cldy none 19:01 45 21 7 213 (SSW) 494 mstly clr none 20:01 37 23 6 80 (E) 350 clear none 21:01 33 22 13 62 (ENE) 357 clear none 22:01 31 22 15 76 (ENE) 467 clear none 23:01 37 19 2 20 (NNE) 869 clear none 00:01 39 20 9 18 (NNE) 1142 clear none 01:01 38 16 2 8 (N) 538 clear none 02:01 36 20 7 27 (NNE) 449 clear none 03:01 36 19 1 0 (N) 393 clear none 04:01 36 17 7 357 (N) 351 clear none 05:01 37 19 6 352 (N) 409 clear none 06:01 37 19 7 10 (N) 583 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
