We were briefly graupeled upon at about 19:00. After sunset the clouds diminished significantly, but cells continued to pop up around us on radar with about 50 miles, including a large thundershower that appeared only a few miles to our east around 21:00. By 23:00 the radar echoes had died down and conditions seemed stable, so I decided to open. The clouds moved back in around midnight but seeing no reason to expect precipitation, I kept the enclosure open. At the shift change, we had a brief connectivity outage apparently related to the MC. Don called me to note that Syncs and slitviewing camera commands he was sending were not returning. Almost simultaneously, George called to let me know his messages sent through Remark were not even being echoed in the message window on his computer. I had both try quitting out of Remark, then I restarted the MC. Worked like a charm with only a couple of minutes of downtime. Shortly before 03:00 the humidity quickly ramped up over the closure limit. Noting that there was an overall trend upward in the previous few hours, I elected to close. I let George finish his exposure, which had only a couple of minutes left to go, before closing. George gave up at 04:30. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:16 Echelle -153(-59) 168 78 1.0/3.0 63 19 ND2 1.42 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 44 23 9 261 (W) MstlyCldy none 17:01 47 23 3 247 (WSW) MstlyCldy none 18:01 40 20 7 293 (WNW) 1758 MstlyCldy none 19:01 40 21 9 274 (W) 1739 MstlyCldy none 20:01 39 18 9 331 (NNW) 2081 MstlyCldy none 21:01 37 18 16 16 (NNE) 1840 PtlyCldy none 22:01 36 17 14 36 (NE) 1727 PtlyCldy none 23:01 34 22 21 61 (ENE) 1452 MstlyClr none 00:01 33 21 19 67 (ENE) 1386 PtlyCldy none 01:01 33 20 13 61 (ENE) 932 MstlyCldy none 02:01 30 26 17 59 (ENE) 955 PtlyCldy none 03:01 28 26 18 70 (ENE) 927 MstlyClr none 04:01 28 26 14 78 (ENE) 845 MstlyClr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
